U.S. and Mexico Hold Workshop on the Economic Empowerment of Girls and Women

Event Date: October 16th, 2015

In 2014, the members of the Equal Futures Partnership (Equal Futures) agreed to work more systematically to fulfill one of the Partnership’s two strategic goals: sharing best practices in ways that can advance members’ efforts to achieve their domestic reform commitments.  Participants in the September 19, 2014 technical level meeting in New York identified a specific way that this could be accomplished: “pair” Equal Futures member countries with similar domestic reform commitments.  The United States piloted this “pairing program” with Mexico in 2015, as the two countries have similar domestic reform commitments aimed at creating financial security for survivors of gender-based and domestic violence.
